The School Program…
- World Geography
- Civics
- Patriotism
- History
- Military
- Altruism
OPERATION: America Loves You was founded to show those serving their country overseas that the people back home appreciate their efforts and that they are not forgotten. The cards and letters school children write the troops are the center post of that mission.
Over the years, teachers have used our program to teach the values of patriotism and altruism, self-less giving, the need to have a military presence overseas, and naturally, world geography and politics. The lessons fit like a warm glove with Veterans Day and Memorial Day along with the end of the year traditional holidays. The children learn the history behind the recognition. They express raw and heartfelt appreciation and tell why liberty and freedom are so important to them. These moving words do more for boosting the morale of those brave men and women unable to be home for those occasions than the appearances of comedians, actors or pro sports cheerleaders.
“OPERATION: America Loves You! is the real deal.” Said Major General James Joy, USMC, Ret. “The efforts of “Hot Dog Harry” and his army of volunteers are greatly appreciated by the troops; the cards and letters make their sacrifices all the more worthwhile.”
Once the heartfelt notes are written, the American Legion and VFW collect them and get them into the distribution network for final delivery just before the holidays. The volunteers then fly in to cook the hot dogs themselves and pass out the snacks, sodas and letters.
